TC RIDES To City Lot

What is City Lot?

City Lot is a undiscovered public space, (and a city owned parcel) along Kids Creek. It’s between Little Bohemia Restaurant and Oak Street off of West Front Street and includes a greenspace by the fire station.

City Lot recently received a placemaking initiative grant:

“In the west end of downtown Traverse City, several projects are underway to address issues such as pedestrian and motorized infrastructure, streetscapes, and poor connectivity. However, the area lacks a true destination or gathering space. A new design plan for a vacant city-owned parcel along Kids Creek would transform the site into a true community space for residents and visitors, providing both a focal point for this emerging district and a connection to the heart of downtown.” – Michigan Municipal League

The project organizers want your ideas.

TC RIDES on Wednesday, August 12th will make a detour from it’s normal route to stop at City Lot. We’ll take a break there, walk the site, and make comments on the chalkboard before continuing on to The Little Fleet.

As always, meet at F&M Park at 5:45 (rolling at 6:00).

TC RIDES is Traverse City’s weekly community bicycle ride. It’s goal is to create awareness for the growing presence of people on bikes in Traverse City. Our ride to City Lot will be followed by some eating, drinking and merrying at The Little Fleet.

The TC RIDES To City Lot route:

Boardman Lake/River. 6 different neighborhoods. TART. The Open Space. Beautiful West Bay. Clinch Park. Maybe the most lovely 8 urban kilometers ever. You’re welcome to hop on anywhere along the route if you can’t make it to F&M Park by 6.

TC RIDES Community Partners:

$1 from each beverage at The Little Fleet$1 from each purchase at The Daily Blend Food Truck and Roaming Harvest and $1 from  every Cali or Vegetable roll at White On Rice will go to support Norte! and our youth-focused programming.
