Join Norte! for a short but sweet and awfully slow winter-y community bicycle ride through our Traverse City neighborhoods to see the Christmas lights. We will also be hosting a food drive for our friends at The Jubilee House.
So grab those bike lights, warm boots and mitts, a couple cans of food and let’s build community and embrace winter together on our bicycles.
When: Wednesday, December 16th.
Where: Meet at The Little Fleet at 6.
How far will we ride? About 5km. The route features beautiful Front Street, a very festive 6th and 3 magical alleys before returning to The Little Fleet via State.
Can kids come? Of course. We will have a shorter/fun’er 1 mile route for our youngest riders.
In addition to non perishable food donations, is anything else needed? Yep. The Jubilee House is also in need of gently worn men’s heavy winter jackets, (they have tons of women’s coats) gloves, hats, small flashlights, batteries AA and AAA, collapsible umbrellas, disposable hand and feet warmers, back packs and cough drops.
Will there be hot chocolate? Totally. Thanks to our friends at My Best Winter Ever!, we will warm up with some at The Little Fleet after the ride. BYO -mug, please!
How about tunes? Fo’ sure. The fine people from Bike-In TC will be keeping it awesome pre ride with some fun music and probable holiday karaoke.
Do I need a fancy bike? Absolutely not. A regular mountain bike will do just fine.
Should I bring bike lights? Yes! The more the better. Light yourself up like a Christmas tree.
Nuts. I don’t have a bike! No bike? No problem. Join Sara Cockrell of the Grand Traverse Hiking Club for a lovely “TC Walks To See The Lights”. Just bring your fave walking shoes and a headlamp or flashlight!
Could we stop mid-ride to sing carols? Great idea!
